Why Should Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs Use Squarespace For Their Brand Website?

Minimal Desktop

When you’re first starting out it deciding on a website building platform feels like a minefield. Simply typing in ‘Create your own website’ in Google will bring up 1000s of search results, all claiming to be the best to host your brand’s website on. You’ll find everyone from Wordpress to Wix on there, all with their own merits. But who do I recommend 99% of the time? Squarespace.

Whenever you’re making any business decision it’s always wise to question what you need from this platform. For instance, when choosing a website builder you should ask yourself:

  1. What purpose is this website to provide?

  2. How comfortable are you with technology?

  3. What’s will you want your website to do in the future?

Answering these questions will help you automatically rule out some providers, for instance if you are not comfortable with technology, Wordpress could be overwhelming as it requires regular maintenance with plugins. If growth looks like e-commerce, Wix might not look as good from it’s simple e-commerce tools.

So even with that in mind, why am I recommending Squarespace to small businesses and entrepreneurs? Let’s dive in:

Squarespace Enables Growth

Squarespace is equally as fantastic for a base website as it is for a growing one. It’s basic package allows for you to host easily editable pages, which can showcase your portfolio, services, menu - whatever you need. But, the important thing to note here is its ability to grow with you, expand into landing pages, process payments and even create a members only section of your website.

The point is if you start your brand’s website with Squarespace, you won’t easily outgrow it. With each year passing we can see how much the platform is investing in offering growth routes.

Squarespace has expansive tools

One of the best things about Squarespace is its growing array of tools. Squarespace understands its user, and the growing desire to simplify their process. Small business owners and entrepreneurs have a lot of their plate, and often perform several roles. Having a different platform for every role is not ideal. Squarespace’s solution? Streamline.

By bringing in and housing applications users are asking for, they make themselves a best friend for small businesses and entrepreneurs alike. Some of the most exciting tools I’ve found Squarespace bring in include email marketing, course membership areas and appointment scheduling.

However, one of the key areas Squarespace have acted on is brand building tools such as: content creation tools, including basic logo makers and video editing capabilities.

It’s exciting to see how quickly the array of tools is building up, soon enough you’ll only need to remember one password right?

Squarespace is easy to use

One of the most common bits of feedback I get from clients is how easy Squarespace is to use. The entire UX and functionality of the backend is clean and simple. Most importantly? It uses language even the techiest-of-phobes can understand.

Whenever I hand over a website after a web design project, I will always include a full rundown of how to use Squarespace, how to change and image, how to write a blog post and even how to update business details. Despite offering 30-day post-project support, I hardly ever get any queries on how to do these things after being shown once. It’s wonderfully self-explanatory. After all, what’s the point of having a website built that you can’t ever tweak slightly?

If you do get stuck, it’s also worth noting that Squarespace’s customer service is fantastic. With 24/7 care, you’ll never be left too long without help.
